discuonted prices

These scams really bother me. I picture an elderly person, living by himself, who has bought a computer for the first time in his life because he's got too much time on his hands...

And he gets this email. Puzzled, he doesn't remember doing business with this company, but decides he must have "just forgotten". So he goes to the site, makes an order (never noticing that he's being asked to enter his credit card information on a non-secure payment page), and then, of course, the scammer has his credit card information.

People who prey on our elderly - instead of giving them the honor and respect they deserve - sicken me.

If you know someone who might be taken in by a scam like this, please take the time to explain this kind of scam to them!

$Field2 $Field3, end your high card balance's

This is one of those spams that just screams to be deleted. I'm posting it because it shows all the main warning signs of a scam.

1. spelling "debt" with a space between each letter, and "mortgage payment" as a single word is a desperate attempt to get this email past a spam filter. If you have a spam filter on your email, that's your way of saying "I don't want your promotion" - and their strange spellings is their way of saying "I don't care what you want...I'm going to sneak my advertisement in anyway."

2. The email comes from a non-existent email address. In fact, the email address isn't even formatted to fool you into thinking it's a real email address.

3. The company doesn't even have a domain name - they're operating off an IP Address.

4. If you visit their website, they ask you for your contact information but offer you absolutely none of their own!

5. The email subject is absolutely nonsensical. And nongrammatical!

This settlement program exterminated my out of control d e b t.
I lowered my mortgagepayment and got rid of my ARM loan.

DONATION FROM SALIMA BENSON

These email frauds that prey on people who want to do good make me sick. Do not believe the offers of strangers who offer to give you money, even if they claim it's for a charitable cause.

From.MRS SALIMA BENSON04 BP 20145 AbidjanCOTE D IVORIEWEST AFRICA.
EMAIL/
St.Micheal's archdeaconry in Ivory coast,

Dear In Christ i know that this mail may reach you by surprise,

I am Mrs Salima Benson, from angola.I am married to late Mr Bamba Benson, who worked with angola Embassy in Ivory Coast for Twenty-Six years before he died in the year 2003,after a brief illness that lasted for only five days. We were married for Eighteen years with a duaghter(Janet)who later died in a motor accident.
Before the untimely death of my husband,we were both born again Christians. Since after his death I decided not to remarry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against.

When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of (US$3.5 M )(Three . five Million, United States Dollars)in security company here in Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire in one truck box as family valuable use and gift items.

Presently, this money is still with the security company.Recently,Following my ill health, my Doctor told me that I may not last for the next one months due to my cancer problem. The one that disturbs me most is my stroke sickness.Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to a Christain organization (Church) that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct herein, according to the desire of my late husband before his death.

I want this fund to be used in Christain Activities like,Orphanages, Christain schools, and Churches for propagating the word of God and to endeavor that the house of God is maintained. The Bible made us to understand that "Blessed is the hand that giveth". I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and I don't want my husband's efforts to be used by unbelievers. I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly way.

This is why I am taking this decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that "the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace". I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health hence the presence of my husband's relatives around me always. I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the security company here in Abidjan. I will also issue you the documents that will prove you the present beneficiary of the truck box.I want you and the Church to always pray for me because the lord is my shephard. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that Wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and Truth.

Please always be prayerful all through your life. Any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing another Church for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated herein. Hoping to receive your reply. Before I even pick you to assist me I have prayed and slept over it asking God to provide for me a Godly minded person that will assist me in this transaction. I will give you more details of the transaction in my next mail.

Until I hear from you, my dreams will rest squarely on your shoulders May the almighty continue to guide and protect you. Please contact me on my above private email addres for more informations.
Remain blessed in the Lord.
Yours in Christ, Mrs Salima Benson

Marcus - Science Fair Project

Stop to think before you fill this out and send it along. How exactly are you going to "see what happens"? The answer is, you've already seen what happens...you got spam! Someone thought it would be funny to start this and see how quickly people's inboxes would be flooded with this bogus science fair project.

Sorry, guys, it's quick and for a kid's school project! (and you are the ones I thought might follow through, either because you're teachers, you have kids, you like science, your looking for names for future children or you're just plain nice) This is for a Science Fair project.

If you could do this I would appreciate it! DON'T ASK, JUST PLAY! Copy and paste this letter into a new email (PLEASE do NOT hit "Forward"), then read the list of names.

If your name is on the list, put a star * next to it. If not, then add your name (in alphabetical order, put no star.) Send it to ten people and send it back to the person who sent it to you. Put your name in the subject box! You'll see what happens - it's kind of cool! Please keep this going.

Don't MESS it up, please

Important Message - Dr. Dobson and CBS

It's amazing how many times I've seen this one. When you get this, ask yourself this one question: how exactly does an "email petition" work?

It doesn't!

Dr. Dobson & CBS Response
Apparently we are to be allowed to watch TV programs that use every foul word in the English language, but not the word "God." It will only take a minute to read this and see if you think you should send it out
DR. DOBSON'S PLEA FOR ACTION
CBS discontinued "Touched by an Angel" for using the word God in every program. Madeline Murray O'Hare, an atheist, successfully managed to eliminate the use of Bible reading from public schools a few years ago.
Now her organization has been granted a federal hearing on the same subject by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, DC.
Their petition, Number 2493, would ultimately pave the way to stop the reading of the gospel our Lord and Savior, on the airwaves of America.
They got 287,000 signatures to back their stand! If this attempt is successful, all Sunday worship ! services being broadcast on the radio or by television will be stopped. This group is also campaigning to remove all Christmas programs and Christmas carols from public schools!
You as a Christian can help!
We are praying for at least 1 million signatures. This would defeat their effort and show that there are many Christians alive, well and concerned about our country. As Christians we must unite on this. Please don't take this lightly.
We ignored this lady once and lost prayer in our school and in offices across the nation
Please stand up for your religious freedom and let your voice be heard. Together we can make a difference in our country while creating a way for the lost to know the Lord.
Please press "forward", and forward this to everyone that you think should read this. Now, please sign your name at the bottom ( you can only add your name after you have pressed the "Forward"). Don't delete any other names, just go to the next number and type your name and state. Please defeat this organization and keep the right of our freedom of religion.

REMEMBER! : Our country was founded on freedom of religion and our Constitution is based on the 10 Commandments.
PETITION TO REINSTATE PRAYER IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Agree or Delete: Instructions to sign are at the bottom.
PETITION FOR PRES. BUSH

Doug's Anti Spam Log - Introduction

Once upon a time there was a man. He made a terrible mistake. He was filling out an online form and he didn't notice that there was a little box that said "Uncheck this box if you don't want to receive emails from us and our affiliates." Now his inbox is filled with spam.

Once upon a time there was a man. He made a terrible mistake. He sent those silly urban legend emails to all his friends, not realizing that sooner or later those emails end up in the hands of spammers, who have a grand time harvesting the email addresses from the message headers. Now his inbox is filled with spam.

Once upon a time there was a man. He made a terrible mistake. He visited a discussion forum, and didn't see any reason to check the box that said "Make my email address private". Now his inbox is filled with spam.

Once upon a time there was a man. He made a terrible mistake. He built a website, and thought he should post his email address on the site. Now his inbox is filled with spam.

Once upon a time there was a man. He didn't make any mistake at all, except the mistake of living in the twenty-first century. Now his inbox is filled with spam.

If you're one of the people described here (and if you are reading this, that means the last one is probably true!) then you may need some help dealing with spam. That's why The Anti Spam Site was created. And this blog was created as a supplement to that site, posting information about current scam and frauds on the internet.

It's the blog you need, but don't want to read.
