Androscoggin Bank : IMPORTANT NOTICE!/Bangor Savings Bank

There is a phisher out there targetting Maine banks. Here are Androscoggin Bank and Bangor Savings Bank examples. These are NOT from the banks they claim to be from. Beware of fraud, and be sure you know your bank's REAL web address.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: On Tuesday, June 23rd, you get a better way to pay bills online

We are upgrading your Online Bill Payment center with a new look and simpler navigation. This upgrade is completely automatic, so
you don’t have to do a thing.

Here is what’s new:

Streamlined Payment Center - view and manage all your payment activity on one page.
Faster Payment Processing - many bills can be paid within one day of their due date.
Payment Calendar - just click on the calendar to see the earliest available payment date.
Quick Add - add a bill by simply entering a phone number.
Automatic Bill Reminders - set up email notification for important due dates.
Your Login ID and password will remain unchanged. On Tuesday morning from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM the Online Bill Payment center will
not be accessible while we make the conversion. However, any previously scheduled electronic payments will not be affected. After
10:00 AM, please LOG IN and discover the new Online Bill Payment for yourself.


If you find any type of suspicious activities please contact us immediately.

Fraud Verification Process (PayPal Scam)

It has been some time since I've posted a phishing scam. There have been some interesting ones lately, I just haven't had time to post. One very interesting one was a phishing scam that appeared to be from The Androscoggin Bank, which is a local rather than national bank. The scammer was targetting people in my home state.

But here's a dangerous one. Dangerous because it looks so much like a REAL PayPal notification. Don't get sucked into this. Go directly to the PayPal website for information about PayPal - don't click links in emails!

It has come to our attention that your PayPal Billing Information records are out of date. That requires you to update the Billing Information.
Failure to update your records will result in account termination. Please update your records in maximum 48 hours. Once you have updated them, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update them will result in cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future billing problems. Please follow the link below and update your account information:
