Question: Recovering Email Password from Previous Email Provider
changed service, tried to swap email lists but I "lost" my old email password.since I am w/ner provider how can I recover my old service providers email password?
Answer
It probably depends on whether you were using a free or paid service for email. If you were using a free service such as gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc, the odds are good that your email address may still exist, even though you aren't using it. If that's the case, you can go to the provider's website, and look for the "forgot my password" link. That
may help you, but since recovery of passwords often involves sending confirmation emails, you may be up a creek.
If you were using a paid service, you may not be able to log in to your old account, even if you remembered your password; once you are no longer subscribing to their service, they aren't likely to want you to be able to access that account any more.
In either case, if nothing else works, you could try calling the old service provider in order to talk to a real person, and ask them what you should do. They may be willing/able to help you recover the information you need.
Good luck!
