TriMania Puzzles
TriMania puzzles (puzzles containing shapes made of only three square blocks) are especially good for young children, for a variety of reasons.
First, young children often have difficulty managing two different kinds of transformations;
rotations and flips. The TriMania pieces never need to be flipped (unlike some
of the puzzle pieces in TetraMania and PentoMania), which makes the puzzles
much easier.Second, TriMania puzzles almost invariably have multiple solutions, which makes them much easier than pentomino puzzles, which may have several tiles, but only one solution.
The 'Diamond' puzzle displayed on this page
consists of only eight tiles, but at last count 6 distinct solutions--plus
25 transformations of those solutions--have been found.Third, building TriMania puzzles is fun, because children can easily manipulate the pieces to create attractive designs and shapes.
