The following is (with some parts removed) an email I received this morning. This follows a standard format of a message that used to arrive regularly by mail:

Failure to complete your search engine registration by Apr 28, 2012 may result in the cancellation of this order (making it difficult for your customers to locate you using search engines on the web).

This is a fairly common practice among dishonest SEO firms. They send you a message which appears to be a domain renewal message. IT'S NOT!!!

You didn't register your domain with these people. You didn't host your site with them. You didn't do ANYTHING with them. They are, however, claiming the following:

1. You've submitted an order to them.
2. You've requested "special notifications" from them about your domain.

Neither of these are true. Do NOT send them your money!
